MS Dhoni, the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman, added yet another feather to his illustrious Indian Premier League (IPL) cap by creating a new record in the tournament's history.
Dhoni, who has now been involved in 25 run-outs, surpassed all other players in the league to set a new IPL record for most run-outs effected in tournament history. Dhoni achieved the milestone when Ashutosh Sharma was run out in the final over when the youngster decided to take on Jadeja's arm at deep square-leg. Despite a desperate dive, Sharma could not save himself as Dhoni whipped the bails off in a flash.
The list of players with the most run-outs in IPL history now stands as follows:
25 - MS Dhoni
23 - Ravindra Jadeja
22 - Virat Kohli
16 - Suresh Raina
16 - Manish Pandey
15 - Dinesh Karthik
Dhoni is one of the most influential and impactful players in the history of the IPL. Over the years, he has created quite a few records that seem impossible to break.
Dhoni was the first captain in the IPL's history to win 100 matches when CSK defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2019.
Dhoni became the oldest captain (at 42 years and 325 days) to lift the IPL trophy for a record fifth time in 2023.
Dhoni, who led CSK till 2023, has also played as captain in the IPL for a record 226 times.
