A blunder from Mumbai Indians (MI) in the first over of their clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow proved costly for the five-time champions as Mitchell Marsh gave the home team a dream start in the all-important fixture on Friday (April 4).
On the last ball of the third over, Marsh played and missed a delivery from Boult to little reaction from either the wicket-keeper Ryan Rickleton or fielders. However, the replays left Boult and MI skipper Hardik Pandya stunned as the ultra-edge showed that Marsh had edged the delivery.

At the time of the incident, Marsh had played 15 deliveries and scored 26 runs. The Australian T20I skipper made the most of his second life as he completed a half-century in just 27 balls. At the end of the powerplay, he had 60 runs on the board, which is the ninth-highest individual score within the first six overs by a player in IPL history and the most by a LSG batter.
Marsh departed on the last ball of the 7th over of the match after being dismissed by Vignesh Puthur. The rookie spinner continued the impressive start to his IPL career with a fine spell of 1/31 in four overs.
Hardik proved the pick of the bowlers for MI as he got the big wickets of Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant, and Markram, David Miller, and Akash Deep.
Markram, who played second fiddle to Marsh in the powerplay, took over the run-scoring mantle in the middle overs and reached his first half-century of the season in 34 balls.
Coming into the match, both MI and LSG have an identical record this season with one win and two defeats so far.
Talking about Marsh, he has made an incredible start to his LSG career with three half-centuries in the first four games. Ironically, he made three 50+ scores in three seasons for Delhi Capitals (DC).
