Hardik Pandya is captaining the MI side in this game, and he has been in good form with the ball since his first game of the competition. He continued his brilliant performance with the ball in this match as well, as he registered his best-ever figures in the IPL. In the process, the star all-rounder has become the first player to achieve a massive feat.
Hardik Pandya picked up the important wickets of Nicholas Pooran, Rishabh Pant, Aiden Markram, David Miller, and Akash Deep. He finished with figures of 5/36 in his 4 overs. He thus becomes the first captain in history to take a five-wicket haul in the IPL. The earlier record for the best-ever bowling figures by a captain was held by Anil Kumble, who picked up 4/16 as RCB skipper against Deccan Chargers in IPL 2009.

This was also Hardik Pandya's first-ever 5-wicket haul in T20 cricket. His previous best bowling figures in this format was for India, when he picked 4/16 against New Zealand in Ahmedabad in 2023.
Hardik Pandya also became the first captain to take three or more wickets in an innings for two teams. His first three-wicket haul as captain came for Gujarat Titans against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2023.
Hardik Pandya also becomes the second Indian captain to take 30 wickets in IPL history. If he takes 1 more wicket in the forthcoming matches, then he will become the Indian captain with the most IPL wickets, overtaking Anil Kumble.
