Pakistan suffered a massive setback when they were defeated in the T20I series by New Zealand by margin of 4-1. They next take on New Zealand in a three-match ODI series. There have been multiple changes in the T20I squad as they move into the ODI series. Veteran pacers Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf were dropped from the ODI squad, even though they were part of the T20I squad. However, just three days before the first ODI, the Men in Green have made a massive selection U-turn.
According to a report by PTI, Haris Rauf has been recalled by the team management for the ODI series against New Zealand after initially being dropped. He has already joined the squad. The right arm fast bowler had a decent T20I series against New Zealand, where he finished as the highest wicket-taker with 7 scalps. He was dropped for the ODI squad for the poor form he showed in the Champions Trophy 2025, where Pakistan were knocked out of the opening round without a single win.

The report also states that Pakistan head coach Aaqib Javed has also asked for a reserve wicketkeeper-batter for the ODI squad. Hence, wither Mohammad Haris or Usman Khan might stay back with the squad for the three-match ODI series.
