Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are currently taking on Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a blockbuster encounter in the IPL 2025 at the Assam Cricket Association Stadium in Guwahati. The toss has already been done, and it is Ajinkya Rahane who won the toss and elected to bowl first. However, the biggest news coming in from the match is that KKR legend and superstar all-rounder Sunil Narine will not be playing in the match.

Sunil Narine is a big part of the KKR franchise, and it is a big blow to them that the West Indies superstar is not playing against Rajasthan Royals. At te toss, captain Ajinkya Rahane confirmed that Narine has been rested because he is not well.

In place of Narine, KKR have brought in veteran England all-rounder Moeen Ali in the playing XI against Rajasthan Royals.

Narine had a memorable match for KKR the last time that they faced Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2024. The West Indies all-rounder smashed his maiden century in the game, even though his team lost.

Defending champions KKR suffered a heavy defeat by 7 wickets in the first match of the IPL 2025 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at their home ground of Eden Gardens, Kolkata. They did manage to get a good start courtesy a half-century from captain Ajinkya Rahane. However, a late collapse resulted in them scoring only 174. RCB pulled off the chase in just 16.2 overs.
