
Big Blow To Indian Cricket! Man Behind Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami Comebacks Set To Exit Job: Report

There has been a lot of talk about the improvement of Indian cricket for he past few years, especially after their domination in the ICC events in the past few years. One of the biggest successes behind the scenes in Indian cricket has been injury management. Jasprit Bumrah was out of action for almost a year from 2022 to 2023 and came back to have the best year in his career, winning the ICC Cricketer of the Year Award. Mohammed Shami also returned fit and fine after more than a year and was a key part of the Champions Trophy 2025 campaign. However, the man behind these comebacks is set to bid goodbye to Indian cricket.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, Nitin Patel, the head of Sport Science at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) is set to quit his job once his current contract expires at the end of March 2025. He is currently serving his notice period of the three-year contract that began in March 2022.. The BCCI will be looking for a replacement soon.
Nitin Patel Looking After Jasprit Bumrah's Injury Rehabilitation
As the head of the sports science wing of the NCA, Niin Patel oversaw the injury rehabilitation of the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and most recently, Mohammed Shami. Currently, he is in charge of managing the rehabilitation of Bumrah, who has been out of action with a back injury since January.
Patel has also served as the physio of the Indian cricket team and the Mumbai Indians previously.
Jasprit Bumrah To Miss First Few IPL 2025 Games
According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, Jasprit Bumrah is set to miss the first few matches of the IPL 2025, as he is still recovering from the back injury he suffered in January. The superstar fast bowler might return to the squad in early April, subject to clearance from the medical team of the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
