The IPL 2025 is all set to begin in just over a week from February 22 (Saturday). Mumbai Indians are one of the strongest teams on paper in the tournament, with some of the biggest names in international cricket in their lineup, with Jasprit Bumrah being the leader of the bowling attack.. However, before the start of the IPL 2025, they have been dealt with a major blow as MI might have to go without Bumrah in the initial phase of the tournament.
According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, Jasprit Bumrah is set to miss the first few matches of the IPL 2025, as he is still recovering from the back injury he suffered in January. The superstar fast bowler might return to the squad in early April, subject to clearance from the medical team of the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

What Are The Matches That Jasprit Bumrah Might Miss?

Jasprit Bumrah might miss all of the Mumbai Indians' games in March. In this period, MI play three games against Chennai Super Kings (March 23), Gujarat Titans (March 29) and Kolkata Knight Riders (March 31). Hence, Bumrah might miss these matches, and if he is cleared in April, then he will return in the match against Lucknow Super Giants on April 4.

When Did Jasprit Bumrah Suffer An Injury?
Jasprit Bumrah suffered a lower back injury during the fifth Test between India and Australia in Sydney. He has since not played a single match and has been recovering at the NCA. He also missed being part of the India squad for the Champions Trophy 2025.

No Hardik Pandya Vs CSK

Captain Hardik Pandya accumulated three over-rate offences in IPL 2024, with the final of these coming in their final game of the season. This means that he would have to be suspended for the next match, which is the opening match of the IPL 2025 season against CSK. This means that MI will miss the services of both Bumrah and Pandya in the opening game of the IPL 2025.
