Coldplay's 'Kiss Cam', which became the source of the most viral incident of 2025 earlier this month was again the centre of attention but for reasons that left the crowd in awe as Lionel Messi made an appearance during the band's final performance in the United States of America (USA) this year during the ongoing Music of the Spheres World Tour on Sunday (July 27) at the iconic Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
Messi, who is widely regarded as the greatest footballer to ever play the game, attended the concert. It is worth noting that the city is home to Messi currently, as he plays for the Major League Soccer (MLS) outfit Inter Miami. The 2022 FIFA World Cup winner attended the concert with his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo.
During the Jumbotron section, which sees the band's lead singer, Chris Martin, interact with the crowd, Messi made an appearance. The stadium erupted with joy and loud chants of 'Messi Messi.'
Martin paid Messi the ultimate compliment and labelled him as the No. 1 sportsperson of all time.
"Lio. My beautiful brother. You and your wife are looking so fine. Thanks for coming today to see our band playing, the number one sportsperson of all time,' said Martin to the delight of the huge crowd.
Earlier this year, during Coldplay's tour of India in January, when they performed in Navi Mumbai and Ahmedabad, Indian cricket legend Jasprit Bumrah made an appearance. Bumrah attended their final performance in the country on 26th January at the Narendra Modi Stadium and was similarly serenaded by Martin and the record crowd.
As far as Coldplay are concerned, their 'kiss cam' has become the talking point of their US tour in 2025 as the cameras focused towards the Astromer CEO Andy Byron at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. Byron was spotted with a women, who turned out to be the company's chief people officer, Kristin Cabot.
The couple were evidently embarrassed as the cameras focused towards them, leading to Martin joking, 'either they are shy or in an affair.'
Martin's initial assessment proved to be true, leading to the incident going viral on social media across the world.
