The Indian batters are ruling the run-scoring charts in the ongoing Test series against England. Shubman Gill, who has piled up 722 runs, has the most runs in the series so far. He is followed by KL Rahul, who has 511 runs. Rishabh Pant has 479 runs and acquires the third spot. Ravindra Jadeja is fifth with 419 runs. Jamie Smith, who has 424 runs, is the only home batsman in the top five.
The Indian batsmen's domination has seen them create history and achieve a never-before-done feat in England. For the first time since India's Test debut, which happened in 1932, as many as four batsmen have scored more than 400 runs in a series.
The tally can move up to five if Yashasvi Jaiswal scores big in the fifth Test match. The left-handed batsman has 291 runs in eight innings.
Starting with Gill, he kicked off the series with a century in Leeds. He followed up with a double-century and a century in Birmingham. After struggling at Lord's, Gill returned to form in Manchester and slammed a century in India's second innings.
Rahul has two centuries and as many half-centuries in the series. He has faced 998 balls, second-most in the series. He played an unofficial Test match for India A before the start of the series.
Rishabh kicked off the series with twin tons in Leeds. He scored back-to-back half-centuries in the next two matches. The India vice-captain was dealing with a finger injury at Lord's and suffered an ankle injury on day 1 of the ongoing Test. He will return home after the ongoing fixture.
Jadeja has been a star performer with the bat. He has scores of 11, 25*, 89, 69*, 72, 61* and 20. He is nearing his century at Old Trafford. Despite the batsmen's domination, India are 1-2 behind in the five-match series.
