The fourth Test between India and England ended in a stalemate after India batted for 143 overs in their second innings. The visitors only lost four wickets. Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar remained unbeaten and added 203 runs for the fifth wicket. They kept England at bay and didn't give them an inch when England could have forced their way back into the game.
Jadeja slammed the fifth Test century of his career in the final session. Sundar breached the three-figure mark for the first time. Few minutes before Jadeja and Sundar completed their centuries, England offered to shake hands. But India refused the offer.
Jadeja completed his century with a six off Harry Brook. As Sundar was on his way to join Jadeja in his celebrations, Brook came towards him with an offer. Sundar didn't pay any heed to Brook and continued to walk towards Jadeja. The part-timer wanted to shake hands with Sundar to end the game.
Sundar, who made his Test debut in 2021, ended his wait and 15 balls later, he breached the three-figure mark off Brook. Both teams shook hands after Sundar scored the first Test century of his career.
The Indian batsmen pulled off a miracle to force a draw in Manchester. India scored 358 runs in their first innings. England breached the 600-run mark and scored 669 runs, thus gaining a lead of 311 runs.
Chris Woakes left India reeling at 0/2 with scalps of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan. Captain Shubman Gill and KL Rahul rescued Team India and made sure India didn't lose any more wickets.
They added 188 runs for the third wicket. Gill completed his century while Rahul was dismissed for 90. Following their dismissals, Washington Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja took charge and took the game towards a draw. England continue to lead the five-match Test series 2-1.
