Rishabh Pant continued his great run in England and played a brilliant knock in the Manchester Test before retiring hurt. Pant, who has scored 462* runs in the series, including two centuries and as many fifties, came out to bat after India lost KL Rahul and Shubman Gill early and transferred the pressure back on the hosts with a magnificent knock.
Pant added an unbeaten 72-run stand with Sai Sudharsan and helped India cross the 200 run mark. Pant's inning was cut short due to a foot injury that forced him to retire hurt at 37 runs. Pant was hit on the finger in the Lord's Test, and the latest injury further increased his problems.
Before being retired hurt, Pant achieved a historic feat in England. Pant became the first player in the world to score 1000 runs in England as a visiting wicketkeeper-batter. Pant reached the milestone in style, hitting a six off Brydon Carse. Pant has a terrific record in England. He made his debut against England in Nottingham on August 18, 2018, and since has played 13 matches in the country, with 12 matches against England and one WTC final against New Zealand.
