Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar is set to miss an important tournament after his success at IPL 2025. Rajat suffered a finger injury during IPL 2025. He made his return during the season but the injury remained a concern for him. Rajat, who played 3 Tests against England in 2024, is set to miss the Duleep Trophy due hand and heel injuries. The premier domestic tournament is set to kick off on August 28.
The Times of India has reported that Rajat has been advised to take rest by the BCCI's medical team. "Rajat is training at MP’s off-season camp, but he’s not been batting, as he has been advised to take a break and recover from the injury in his right hand by the BCCI’s medical team. He will miss the Duleep Trophy but should be fine for the Ranji Trophy," a source told TOI.
Rajat's absence from Duleep Trophy will have an impact on his chances of making a Test comeback. He will be fit to play Ranji Trophy and will hope to make his India A comeback by performing in the tournament.
Rajat made his Test debut in the Vizag Test in February 2024. He played three Tests before losing his spot in the playing XI. The right-handed batsman only scored 63 runs across six innings. Rajat has played one ODI while he is uncapped in T20I cricket.
Rajat created history in IPL 2025
Rajat Patidar created history in IPL 2025 as he became the first captain to lead RCB to an IPL title win. They dominated the proceedings in the league stage and finished second in the points table.
RCB defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the first qualifier to become the first team to qualify for the final. They defeated PBKS in the final by 6 runs to end their 17-year-long wait for the elusive IPL title.
