India are currently taking on England in the fourth Test of the five-match series at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester. This is a must-win game for India as they are currently trailing the series by a margin of 1-2, and a defeat would mean that they would lose the series wih a match to go. Rishabh Pant, given his current form, was expected to be one of India's biggest weapons with the bat. However, India suffered a big blow as Pant had to be taken off the field due to an injury.
Rishabh Pant tried to play an audacious short off the ball of Chris Woakes. However, he completely missed it as the ball hit his ankle. Pant looked in great pain, as he was taken off the field on a cart. Sports Now can also confirm that the star wicketkeeper-batter will be taken to the hospital for further treatment. There is even a chance that he might miss out the remainder of the 4th Test if the injury is serious.

Who Will Replace Rishabh Pant?
This is the second straight match in which Rishabh Pant suffered an injury. In the third Test at Lord's, Pant injured his finger while wicketkeeping. He could not keep for the rest of the match. He was replaced by Dhruv Jurel behind the stumps.
Jurel will be the one who would replace Pant in this Test behind the stumps. However, Pant cannot be replaced by any batter in case he cannot bat too for the remainder of the Test. This means that India will only play with 9 wickets in their hand, instead of the usual 10 wickets.
The ICC inroduced provisions where an injured player can be replaced by a like-for-like player in Test matches last month. However, it has only been implemented in domestic cricket, and not in internationals as of yet.
