India suffered a heartbreaking loss in the 3rd Test of the five-match series at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground in London by a margin of 23 runs. The visitors have thus gone behind by a margin of 1-2 as a result of this loss. They will now face England in the fourth Test of the series at Old Trafford, Manchester, from June 23. This is a must-win game for India as a loss would result in them losing the series with a match to go. Karun Nair, who returned to the Team India setup after 8 years, has failed to impress, notching up 131 runs in 6 innings. Now, former India wicketkeeper Deep Dasgupta has urged Nair to be dropped from the playing XI.
In an interaction with Star Sports, Deep Dasgupta said that Sai Sudharsan should replace Karun Nair in the playing XI. Sudharsan played the first Test at Headingley, where he got out for a duck in the first innings, and scored 30 in the second innings. He was dropped for the second and third Tests.
“In the Playing XI, you don’t want more than one change. If there is only one, it would be replacing Karun Nair with Sai Sudharsan. Because Karun Nair hasn’t made any runs,” Dasgupta said. “He’s got starts, but hasn’t converted them into big scores. I also believe he doesn’t look that comfortable at the crease either," he added.

'Invest In A Young Player Like Sai Sudharsan'

Deep Dasgupta has urged India to invest in a young player like Sai Sudharsan in order to build the future, rather than someone like Karun Nair who has not looked convincing.
“Sai Sudharsan is a young player. If you want to invest in this England series, you’d rather invest in a younger player. Karun Nair has got starts in both Test matches, but he hasn’t looked that convincing. So if you’re looking to build ahead, you might as well invest in someone like Sai Sudharsan. Because after this, I don’t know when you’ll come back to a series in England.”
