14th July, Lord's Cricket Ground, Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer emerge as the stars. England celebrated the sixth anniversary of their 2019 Cricket World Cup with another thriller at Lord's with a 22-run victory over India in the third Test of the 2025 Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy as the visiting team faced heartbreak after a spirited fight.
India started the day's play 58/4 and 135 runs away from the target with Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul on the crease. Archer turned the game in favour of the hosts by dismissing danger man Pant (9) by casting his stumps. Rahul, who scored a century in the first inning, held fort before Stokes struck him on the pad and sent him packing following a successful DRS call. Archer then dismissed Washington Sundar with a stunning catch of his own bowling.
Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ravindra Jadaja gave India a period without losing any wickets, but the effort went in vain as Chris Woakes dismissed Nitish on the last ball before the lunch break.
Ravindra Jadeja put up a spirited show with a 178-ball knock of 60 and remained unbeaten, while Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj put up a fight that will be remembered for ages. However, it was not enough the rub of the green went against India, and the hosts secured victory. Bumrah batted
Earlier, England won the toss and chose to bat first and put up a total of 387 with Joe Root scoring a century (103). Jasprit Bumrah was the star of the show for India with a five-wicket haul. In reply, India managed the same total as both teams finished with level scores. It was only the ninth instance in Test cricket history of both teams making the same first innings score. KL Rahul scored a century for India while Rishabh Pant made 74 runs.
Later, England made 192 runs in the third innings with Root (40) once again emerging as their top-scorer. Washington Sundar was the pick of the Indian bowling unit with a spell of 4-22.
