Jofra Archer rattled India early on Day 5 to put England at touching distance of a brilliant win. India started the day at 58-4, in a chase of 193, and they were jolted early after Archer rattled Rishabh Pant's stumps. Ben Stokes followed it up with the wicket of KL Rahul before Archer returned to dismiss Washington Sundar to leave India reeling at 82-7.
Archer has struggled with injuries in the last few years, but his performance in the Lord's Test has proven why he is rated as one of the best in the world. Archer had also removed Yashasvi Jaiswal on Day 4 to give India early jolts.
Meanwhile, Archer showed brilliant reflexes and plucked a brilliant catch to dismiss Washington Sundar. There were concerns about how match-fit Archer would be, but he has been brilliant in the field and bowled over 30 overs in the match.
Meanwhile, India were 101-7 at the time of writing and still a fair way away from the win. Nitish Reddy and Ravindra Jadeja were at the crease. While both are very capable batters, the runs required are far too many, and it would need a miracle for India to pull this off.
India have dominated England in the series, but they have somehow let England come back and put them on the backfoot. In the first Test, they were 430-3 and looked set for a 600+ score, but were bowled out for 471. They suffered another lower-order collapse in the second innings to set a target of 371, which England chased with ease. Had they scored a few more runs, they could have won the Test, or at least saved a defeat.
At Lord's as well, they are well behind in the game despite dominating the match for the most part.
