Jasprit Bumrah made a solid comeback in India's playing XI for the Lord's Test match and took a five-fer in the first innings as India bowled out England for 387. The former India vice-captain scalped the wickets of Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer and Chris Woakes to take his five-fer. He followed up with two wickets in England's second innings and dismissed Woakes and Brydon Carse. Bumrah created history and went past Ishant Sharma in a huge list.
Bumrah now holds the record for taking the most wickets against England in England in Tests. The right-arm pacer has 49 wickets in 19 innings against England in their country in Tests. Ishant, who held the top spot for long, scalped 48 wickets in 22 innings. Kapil Dev sits in the third position. The former India captain scalped 43 wickets in 22 innings.
Bumrah is likely to play one more Test in the series. He can become the first Indian to take 50 wickets in England in his next game. Bumrah played his first Test in England in 2018. He led India's pace attack right from his first game. In 2022, Bumrah captained India in the one-off Test against England. The visitors lost the game.
