Washington Sundar did the job for Team India on the fourth day of the Lord's Test match as they folded England for 192 in their second innings. Both India and England put on identical scores of 387 in their first innings. England, who survived the only over they faced on day 3, could only bat for 62.1 overs and put on a total of 192 on the board. India are chasing 193. They have more than a day to complete the chase and go 2-1 ahead in the series.
India are eyeing history at Lord's as they have never chased down a target of more than 150 at this iconic venue. What is India's highest chase at Lord's? Here we have a look -
India's highest chase at Lord's is 134. Back in 1986, Kapil Dev-led India landed in the country for an all-format series. After the ODI series ended in a 1-1 tie, India landed the first punch in the Test series by winning the series opener at Lord's.
India lost 5 wickets in the chase to the target of 134. Kapil Dev (23 off 10) and Ravi Shastri (20) remained unbeaten in the chase. Dilip Vengsarkar, who has 3 centuries at Lord's, scored a crucial 33. He scored a ton in the first innings.
Chetan Sharma took a five-fer in England's first innings while Kapil Dev took a four-fer in their second innings. A combined effort from Team India saw them win the Lord's game.
India went on to win the series 2-0. It was after 15 years that India defeated England in a Test series at their home. They managed their next Test series win in England in 2007.
India captain, Shubman Gill has a chance to etch his name in history books. A win at Lord's will see India go into the 4th Test with a dominating 2-1 lead.
