Jannik Sinner created history on Sunday (July 13) by winning the maiden Wimbledon title of his career by winning the 2025 title after a stunning victory over double defending champions Carlos Alcaraz at the centre court with a four-set victory.
Sinner lost the first set to Alcaraz 6-4 but dominated the game from there on. The 23-year-old produced a flawless performance to win 6-4,6-4,6-4 to secure the fourth Grand Slam title of his career, having won the Australian Open in 2024 and 2025 as well as the US Open last year.
Carlos Alcaraz Misses Roger Federer's World Record
The result means that Alcaraz has lost a Grand Slam final for the first time in his career, having won each of his first five summit clashes in Grand Slam events. The Spaniard had won the 2022 US Open as well as the Wimbledon in 2023 and 2024 and the French Open in 2024 and 2025.
Alcaraz was the second male player to achieve the feat after Federer. The 20-time Grand Slam Champion retains his world record of winning the most finals before losing one. The Swiss star is the only player in history to win the first seven major finals, he played.
Quite intrestingly, Sinner was also on course for the record before losing a major final for the first time last month at the French Open.

Meanwhile, Iga Swiatek extended her record in the women's field for the most finals won without losing after clinching the Wimbledon title with her sixth title. The Polish star has the chance to equal Federer's tally as only the second male or female player to win seven finals without losing one whenever she plays a Grand Slam summit clash again.
As far as Sinner is concerned, he has become the first Italian player to win the Wimbledon's men singles title. The 23-year-old was also playing the 100th Grand Slam match of his career and is the first to achieve the feat in a major final.
