Star Australian captain Pat Cummins has led his nation in several historic victories. However, now he will also make an appearance in the brand-new animated children's show 'Snick and Willow'. The show revolves around two cricket enthusiasts who are determined to use the game's spirit to encourage enjoyment, camaraderie, and fair play. In order to find cricket artifacts and protect their local club from developers, Snick, an Indian kid, and Willow, an Australian girl who enjoys fast bowling, go off on a global quest in the Xentrix Studios-produced series.
"Growing the game of cricket has always been incredibly important to me, what Snick and Willow is doing is really special — it’s a fun, vibrant way to bring cricket to kids everywhere. I’m especially excited about the role of Willow in the series, and how her journey can help inspire young girls to fall in love with cricket. This show has the potential to leave a real mark on the sport’s future,” said Cummins.
Willow is the name of the character of an 11-year-old Australian girl, who relocated to India with her father, Johnno Evans, who coaches a local cricket team. “While adjusting to a new country and culture presents its challenges, Willow’s outgoing nature helps her embrace the vibrant energy of her surroundings with enthusiasm and curiosity,” her character bio on the Snick and Willow website says.
Cummins sees the series' promise despite the fact that his part is still up in the air. According to Cricket Australia's 2022–2027 Strategic Priorities for youth involvement and diversity, the show, which combines adventure, mystery, and sportsmanship, is intended to resonate with kids ages 5–12 and their families.
There are now six characters. In addition to Willow and Snick (a local club's captain and star wicketkeeper), there are Sir Malik, Madam Chair Sunita, coach Evans, Ajun, and PERCI (Personalized Electro Remote Communications Interface), which resembles a cricket ball until it begins beeping, defying gravity, and changing into an all-knowing cricket fact droid.
