John Cena has been absent from WWE TV since his win over CM Punk at Night of Champions. The 'Last Real Champion' hasn't been booked for Saturday Night's Main Event and the fans are wondering whether Cena will be present on this week's Smackdown or not. The 17-time world champion successfully pinned Punk in the main event of Night of Champions to retain his title. Their storyline is now over and Punk will never get a chance to face Cena in a singles match.
For those wondering, Cena will not be part of this week's Smackdown. WWE has not advertised Cena for the show and he is set to miss another week of live TV. Though he is confirmed to make his WWE return on July 18th episode of Smackdown.
Cena is advertised for the show and he will resume his storyline with Cody Rhodes next week. Nt to forget, Cody will challenge Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship in the main event of SummerSlam.
The American Nightmare earned the right to challenge Cena for the title by winning the King of the Ring. He defeated Randy Orton in the final to be crowned the King. Cody would have faced Punk in the final if he had won the main event of Night of Champions.
How Cena escaped cash-in attempt?
John Cena escaped a cash-in attempt by Seth Rollins during the main event. Rollins hit Punk with his briefcase and a stomp and was on his way to pin him when Cena got up.
Cena dumped Rollins out of the ring and quickly pinned Punk to retain the championship. It was the first time when Rollins teased a cash-in. The five-time world champion is likely to cash-in his briefcase during the main event of SummerSlam. Rollins, a two-time MITB winner, successfully cashed in his briefcase during the main event of Wrestlemania 31.
