Novak Djokovic will be up against Flavio Cobolli in the quarterfinal of Wimbledon 2025. Djokovic delivered a smashing performance against Daniel Evans and Miomir Kecmanovic, but Alex De Minaur gave him a real scare in the Round of 16 match. Minaur thrashed Djokovic 6-1 in the first set before the Serb bounced back to take a 2-1 lead. He was again down a break in the fourth set but did well to close the game in four sets.
Cobolli, meanwhile, is having a dream run. He defeated players like Jacub Mensik and Marin Čilić to book a berth in his maiden quarterfinal. 2025 has been a special year for Cobolli. He won his maiden ATP title in Bucharest and backed it up with the biggest win of his career in Hamburg, defeating Andre Rublev in the final. The run to the Wimbledon quarterfinal is already his best performance to date. Cobolli's form is promising, but it is also a fact that he has benefited from a favourable draw. Cobolli is currently ranked career best 24, but he is yet to beat a top-10 opponent. His record stands at 0-11 in such matches, including four grand slam matches, with all losses coming in straight sets.
Djokovic leads 1-0 to Cobolli and would be happy to face him in the quarterfinal. Cobolli is an aggressive player and has a solid serve, making him a dangerous opponent. However, it would possibily take the best version of Cobolli to challenge Djokovic. Only if Djokovic plays at a level far below his best, or anywhere near the way he performed against De Minaur, does Cobolli stand a chance, but given Novak Djokovic's experience and his hunger to win another grand slam, it looks very unlikely that he will give Cobolli much chance in the match.
Prediction: Novak Djokovic to win in 3 sets.
