Hardik Sharma, a promising right-hand batsman and right-arm off-spinner, has emerged as one of Delhi’s brightest young cricketing talents of late. Hardik, who was part of East Delhi Riders, the inaugural champions, in the first season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL), rejoined them in the mega-auction for the second season.
In a heated bidding war during the auction, which took place on Sunday (July 6), Hardik received bids from as many as 3 teams. Hardik, who entered the auction with a base price of Rs 3 lakh, joined his former team for Rs 5.5 lakh. New Delhi Tigers and West Delhi Lions were two other teams who bid for him.
A key member of East Delhi Riders' championship-winning squad in 2024, Hardik has consistently impressed across BCCI U-19 and U-23 tournaments, amassing 8 fifties and 3 centuries in the last three seasons.
He captained Delhi in U-23 CK Nayudu Trophy and MENS U-23 State A Trophy. The agressive batsman was a standout performer in the U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy 2022-23. He scored an unbeaten 129 against Kerala. He scored a century against Nagaland as well. Hardik is one of the most exciting domestic prospects to watch out for in the second season of DPL.
