Gautam Gambhir-coached India bounced back strongly in the 2nd Test against England and won the fixture to level the series 1-1. Captain Shubman Gill led the team from the front and slammed a double-century in the first innings. He followed up with a century in India's second innings as the visitors asked England to chase a big target of 608. India bowled out the home team for 271 to win the game by a big margin of 336 runs. India had failed to defend a target of 371 in the series opener.
Following India's win in the 2nd Test, Yograj Singh came out in Gambhir's support and said that people should not speak about him as he is doing well.
"Indian players are consistently growing and improving their game. We will support them always. We should not speak about Gautam Gambhir because he is doing well. Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, and Rahul Dravid are giving back to cricket because they have received so much," Yograj told ANI.
"Even if our team loses the series, we should not demoralise them. If you lose, you will not be there to explain; if you win, you don't have to explain. We hope that we win the series under the captaincy of Shubman Gill."
India have only won 4 Tests since Gambhir's appointment as the head coach. India won the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. They kicked off the Australia tour with a win in Perth but lost the series 3-1.
India lost the series opener in England. There are still 3 Tests left and India will hope that they return home with a lead. India haven't won a Test series in England since 2007.
The third Test of the series will be played from July 10 to 14 at the Lord's Cricket Ground. Manchester and London will host the next two Tests, respectively.
