Shubman Gill continued his stellar run in the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy and scored his second hundred of the series. Gill, who scored 147 in the first Test and missed out on a 150, completed the task at Edgbaston. He, along with Ravindra Jadeja, added an unbeaten century partnership to put India in complete control of the game, taking the visitors to 387-5 in the first innings at the time of writing. The 150* by Gill was his highest score in Test cricket, and it also helped him shatter a huge record held by Virat Kohli.
Shubman Gill Enters Record Books
The knock by Gill was the highest score by an Indian player at the Edgbaston cricket ground. The record was previously held by Virat Kohli, who scored 149 during the 2018 tour. This is also the highest score by an Indian captain at Edgbaston. Kohli was the captain when he played the magical knock in Birmingham.

Gill also broke Sachin Tendulkar's record of most runs by an Indian captain in an away series at the age of 25. Gill has scored 323* run in the series, while Tendulkar scored 290 runs in 1997 in Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, Jadeja also looked solid on Day 2 and reached 78* at the time of writing. Jadeja will be keen to get to the 100-run mark at the venue. He already has a century at Edgbaston, and if he hits another one, he will become the first Indian to score multiple centuries at Edgbaston.
Earlier, Yashasvi Jaiswal laid the platform for a solid score. Jaiswal blasted a brutal 87 in 113 balls to give India a fiery start. He, however, missed out on a well-deserved century. For the unversed, India made three changes to the playing XI and played Akash Deep, Washington Sundar and Nitish Reddy for Jasprit Bumrah, Sai Sudharsan, and Shardul Thakur, respectively.
