Jamie Smith's Stunning Display
Jamie created history by breaking the world record set by New Zealand's Ian Smith in 1990 at Auckland 1990 for the highest individual score by a number seven or below batter against India. The England gloveman is the first player to hit a score of above 180 against India after walking out to bat following the loss of the fifth wicket

Jamie's effort is also the second-highest by a wicket-keeper batter against India behind Andy Flower's 232 against India in the 1999 Nagpur Test, which is the highest by a wicket-keeper batter in a Test match against any country. Flower had also made a knock of 183 against India in the same series at Delhi.
Jamie's knock is the highest individual score against India by a wicket-keeper batter in a home Test (away for India), breaking Ian's record set 35 years ago at Eden Park.
The English star's knock is also the highest by a wicket-keeper batter for England in Test cricket history against any opponent. He is also the second-youngest wicket-keeper to score a knock of 150 against India.
Smith also set the record for the highest individual score by a batter batting at number seven or below and by a wicket-keeper on English soil in Test cricket history.
Jamie Smith Matches Ab de Villiers' Rare Feat
Jamie walked out to bat in the first session of the third day after Mohammed Siraj dismissed Joe Root and Ben Stokes in the second over the day. The 24-year-old turned the course of the game as he reached his century in just 80 balls before the lunch break. His innings is the joint-third quickest for England and the fourth fastest against India (by balls). It also beat Kamran Akmal's record for the quickest ton by a stumper against the Indian team.
Moreover, Jamie became only the second player to hit 100 runs or more against India before lunch after Ab de Villiers, who achieved the feat at Centurion in 2010. Overall, the England star is only the fourth player in Test cricket history to start his innings and complete a century before lunch apart from Day 1 alongside de Villiers, Lara, and Inzamam Ul-Haq
