India are currently taking on England in the second Test of the five-match series at the iconic Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. After the loss in the in the first Test of the series at Headingley, Shubman Gill's men are looking for a victory in Birmingham to level the series 1-1, and hence have made three changes to their playing XI. The biggest blow for India was that Jasprit Bumrah was not in the XI. Legendary South Africa speedster was baffled at the move of resting Bumrah, and expressed his shock at the Indian team management's decision.
In a post on X, taking a dig at head coach Gautam Gambhir and the Indian team management, Steyn called the decision to rest Jasprit Bumrah as 'madness'. He even compared the move to the Portugal national team choosing to leave out Cristiano Ronaldo from their lineup.
“So Portugal have the best striker in the world in Ronaldo and they chose not to play him. That's madness. That’s like India having Bumrah and choosing not to play, umm, him… wait, oh, no, what! shit I’m confused,” Steyn wrote.

Why Jasprit Bumrah Is Not In India Playing XI For 2nd Test

Jasprit Bumrah is not playing the second Test between India and England because of workload management issues. After he returned from his back injury, Bumrah had informed before the start of the series that he would be playing just three out of the five games. Hence, he is being rested for the second Test at Edgbaston.
He will, according to several reports, be back in the India playing XI for the 3rd Test vs England at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground.
In Jasprit Bumrah's place Akash Deep comes into the playing XI.
"(We rested Jasprit Bumrah) Just to manage his workload. We did get a good break and this is an important match for us. But the third Test being at Lord's, we think there'll be more in that pitch so we'll use him there," captain Shubman Gill said at the toss.
