India are currently looking for a desperate win in the second Test vs England at Edgbaston, Birmingham, and level the series 1-1, after the defeat in the first Test. The visitors have thus made three major changes in the playing XI. Washington Sundar, Akash Deep and Nitish Kumar Reddy came in for Sai Sudharsan, Jasprit Bumrah, and Shardul Thakur. The team management received widespread criticism from legends like Sunil Gavaskar and Ravi Shastri for their changes in the playing XI, to which Yashasvi Jaiswal had a pretty sharp answer.
In interactions with Sony Sports Network during the match, Ravi Shastri heavily criticized the team management's decision of resting Jasprit Bumrah in must-win match in Edgbaston. On the other hand, Sunil Gavaskar questioned why a wicket-taking bowler like Kuldeep Yadav was once again dropped, that too on a track which is believed to be spin-friendly.
In the press conference after the end of play on Day 1, star India opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal confidently said that there was no confusion while selecting the playing XI for the 2nd Test.
"No, there is no confusion," Jaiswal said.
