A member of Virat Kohli's family has been included in the initial draft of shortlisted players for the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2025 auction. Aryaveer Kohli, who is Virat's nephew, has made the cut. He is a leg-spinner and trains under Rajkumar Sharma. Virat also trained under Rajkumar before making it big in international cricket. The veteran coach was bestowed with the Dronacharya Award in 2016. Aryaveer has been included in the C category. He hasn't played for the Delhi state team yet.
The leg-spinner is highly likely to get a bid in the DPL auction and the teams would be eager to get his services. The DPL 2025 auction will take place on July 5.
The second season of DPL will be an 8-team affair. A week before the auction, DDCA welcomed two new teams - Outer Delhi and New Delhi - to the league.
East Delhi Riders will enter DPL 2025 as the defending champions. Led by Himmat Singh, East Delhi defeated South Delhi Superstarz in the final to clinch the trophy.
DPL stars got rewarded
Few of the players who did well in DPL 2024 were rewarded by the IPL franchises. Priyansh Arya joined Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 mega-auction. He shone for the Punjab-based franchise and scored 475 runs in 17 matches.
Digvesh Rathi, who joined Lucknow Super Giants, made a name for himself with his mystery spin. The spinner scalped most wickets for his franchise and dismissed 14 batsmen.
Himmat Singh, who captained East Delhi Riders to a title win, made his return to IPL and joined LSG. He was part of Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2019. Vansh Bedi joined Chennai Super Kings as a replacement player while Prince Yadav played for LSG. DPL 2025 is likely to be played in August-September at the Arun Jaitely Stadium.
