Australia defeated West Indies by 159 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. It was a tough game for the batters as both teams struggled to put big runs on the board. Australia were bowled out for 180 in the first innings, but they did well not to concede a big lead and restricted West Indies to 190 in their first innings. Australia fared better in the second innings and posted 310 before bowling out West Indies for 141 to win the game.
While the bowlers dominated the Test, Travis Head delivered a spectacular performance. Head scored fifties in both innings to bail Australia out of trouble. His 59 in the first innings was instrumental in taking Australia to a fighting total, while he scored a fluent 61 to help Australia recover from a miserable situation of 61-4 in the second innings. After the departure of Head, Beau Webster and Alex Carey took Australia to position of safety, scoring 63 and 65 respectively.
Travis Head Sets Huge Record
Meanwhile, Head created history after scoring twin fifties in the Test. The Australian batter was named the Man of the Match for his brilliant performance and thus became the first player in the world to win 10 Man of the Match awards in the World Test Championship (WTC). Head has been brilliant for Australia in the WTC, and is the team's fourth leading run scorer after Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, and Usman Khawaja. He has scored 3199 runs in 50 games, including eight centuries and 15 fifties.

Joe Root leads the charts of most fours in WTC, with 576 boundaries in 119 innings, followed by Labuschagne and Smith, who have 476 and 443 fours in 96 and 91 innings, respectively. Head has 401 fours in just 83 innings.
Was Disappointed To Not Score Runs In WTC Final - Head
Head said he was disappointed not to score runs in WTC final, which Australia lost to South Africa, but added that contributing to the team's win over the West Indies was pleasing.
"I would have liked to score a bit more, missed out on a few runs. The communication was important, the conditions were tricky and we did exceptionally well to get to 300 on that surface. I was more positive on Day 1 when the game was up for the taking, last night I was desperate to end the day unbeaten, momentum was the key over here, we wanted to build a partnership, we were slow, but it worked out well (on his stand with Beau Webster). He has played a great deal of FC cricket, has got experience in all conditions and situations. You tend to do well then and he took the responsibility. I try to contribute every time I go out there, was disappointed at not making runs at Lords (in the WTC final) despite my good form, was nice to get runs and contribute to the team victory here," said Head at post match presentation.
