Vaibhav Suryavanshi is some talent. At 14, not many get a chance to represent the country, but Suryavanshi is setting new benchmarks every day. He earned a reputation as a tremendous striker after a sizzling century in IPL - the youngest player to reach three figures in the league, and now is doing wonders for the India U-19 team in England.
Suryavanshi left the fans awestruck with his breathtaking strokeplay and helped India U-19 chase the modest target of 175 in the first game. Suryavanshi blasted 48 in 19 balls, including five sixes, and added 71 runs for the first wicket with Ayush Mhatre. The opening stand almost confirmed India's win, and the formalities were completed by Abhigyan Kundu, who made 45 and sealed the game for India.
After leading India to a win, Vaibhav dropped a Bollywood-inspired post on social media. He shared a picture of himself and Kundu with Mangesh Gaikwad, sports massage therapist for India U-19, with a popular Bollywood song 'Aashayein' from the movie Iqbal - the story of a specially abled person from a small town to the Indian cricket team, in the background.
Earlier, a stunning bowling effort from India U19 bowlers helped India U19 restrict England U19 to a below-par score. Kanishk Chouhan was the pick of the bowlers and took three wickets for 20 runs in 10 overs, while Henil Patel, RS Ambrish, and Mohamed Enaan took two wickets each.
India are 1-0 ahead in the series, and the second game will be played in Northampton on June 30. The teams will play five ODIs in total, and the series will be followed by a two-match Youth Test series from July 12.
