England are currently trying to chase down a target of 371 on the final day of the match. England are currently in the driver's seat in the run chase, and it is mainly thanks to an innings of a lifetime by Ben Duckett. In the fourth innings of the game, he smashed a brilliant century , putting the home team in a strong position. During this innings, he also managed to break a world record that was held by his England teammate Joe Root.
Ben Duckett slammed 149 from 171 balls, before getting out by handing a catch to substitute Nitish Kumar Reddy off a Shardul Thakur delivery. Ben Duckett, Zak Crawley Stitch Historic Partnership
Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley stitched a 188 partnership for the first wicket. This is now the first instance of an opening pair putting a partnership of 150 or more runs against India in the fourth innings of a Test match. The duo broke a record set by West Indies' Allan Rae and Jeffrey Stollymore in 1953 at Port of Spain, Trinidad, with an unbeaten stand of 142.
Overall, it is the fourth-highest fourth-innings partnership against India behind Joe Root- Jonny Bairstow (267 in 2022), Roy Dias-Duleep Mendis (216 in 1985), and Ab de Villiers-Faf du Plessis (205 in 2013).
