Months after the 'stupid stupid stupid' rant, Rishabh Pant and Sunil Gavaskar shared a heartwarming moment on Monday (June 23) after the 27-year-old Indian star completed twin centuries in the first Test between India and England, which is currently taking place at the Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds.
Pant joined Gavaskar in a rare list of cricketers to score a ton in both innings of a match and became just the seventh Indian to achieve the feat. The 27-year-old made a knock of 118 runs in just 140 balls and set the stage for India to put a mammoth fourth innings target for England. Earlier, the Indian vice-captain made 134 runs in 178 balls during the first innings.
Rishabh Pant, Sunil Gavaskar Viral Moment
Indian cricket legend Gavaskar was standing on the balcony of the media box as Pant neared the milestone. For those unversed, the 75-year-old is part of the commentatory team for the series. As soon as Pant completed his century, the cameras panned towards Gavaskar, who was spotted telling Pant to do the 'somersault' celebration.
In the first innings, Pant performed an acrobatic act after reaching the milestone. He also came up with a similar celebration when he reached a century in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
Pant spotted Gavaskar in the stand and replied by seemingly gesturing that he would do it later.
