Former Indian spinner Dilip Doshi passed away on Monday (June 23) at the age of 77 in London. The left-arm spinner played 33 Test matches for India as well as 15 ODIs that lasted four years, from his maiden appearance in 1979 to his final outing for the national team in 1983.

As per several media reports, Doshi passed away in the United Kingdom (UK); Doshi died of heart issues. He had been living in London for several years. The 77-year-old is survived by his wife, Kalindi, as well as his son, Nayan, and daughter, Vishaka.

Doshi was among the finest left-arm spinners in India, playing 33 Test matches for the country, in which he took 114 wickets at an average of 30.71, with six five-wicket hauls. He made his debut against Australia in Chennai, while his last outing in the longest format was in 1983. Dilip and the Australian spinner Clarrie Grimmett are the only players to take more than 100 wickets in Test cricket after debuting at the age of 30.

He played 15 ODIs after his debut in 1980, with his final appearance in 50-over cricket in 1982. He took 22 wickets in the format.

Dilip played a stunning tally of 238 first-class matches in his career, with the majority of games coming for Saurashtra and Bengal. The left-arm spinner took an incredible tally of 898 wickets in red-ball cricket, which also included stints in County Cricket for Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire.

Doshi's son, Nayan, was also a professional cricketer, having played for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League. He played first-class cricket for his father's team, Saurashtra, in India and had multiple stints in County cricket for Derbyshire and Surrey.
