Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka shared a viral clip of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Star Digvesh Rathi and expressed his delight at seeing the extraordinary talent of the star spinner, who impressed the cricketing world in the recently concluded 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
Geonka shared a clip from his X account of Rathi taking five wickets in five balls of a local T20 match. The clip, which had gone viral on social media over the last couple of days, caught the LSG owner's attention. The chairman of the RPSG group labelled Rathi as the 'breakout star' of LSG in the 2025 IPL.
"Stumbled upon this clip of Digvesh Rathi taking 5 in 5 in a local T20 game. Just a glimpse of the talent that made him a breakout star for @LucknowIPL in IPL 2025," wrote Goenka on X.
However, it is worth noting that the clip is not a new one but from before the 2025 IPL. It is from a match which took place on 21st February 2025 in the Empress Cricket League as Digvesh took seven wickets while giving away just 28 runs in 3.5 overs as Sahgal Cricket Club defeated AB Rising at the Yug 2.0 Cricket Ground in Gurugram.
Talking about Rathi, he was signed by LSG in the 2025 IPL Mega Auction after being spotted in the 2024 Delhi Premier League (DPL) for his base price of Rs. 30 Lakhs. Rathi, who had played just two T20 games and no first-class or List A cricket before joining LSG, stunned the world in the 18th edition of the league and proved a tormentor for every team.
The 25-year-old finished the season with 17 wickets in 15 matches at an economy of just 7.59 and emerged as the best bowler of the Rishabh Pant-led side.
He also became a social media sensation for his epic celebration with his 'notebook gesture.' While the act was appreciated by fans, Rathi was fined three times and also got a one-match ban.
