KEY HIGHLIGHTS
- Jamal Musiala created history
- Musiala scored a hat-trick in Bayern Munich's 10-win
- Musiala also achieved a feat only done by Cristiano Ronaldo before
Jamal Musiala etched his name in the history books during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup clash between Bayern Munich and FC Auckland City at the TQL Stadium in Cincinnati of Ohio, Cincinnati in the United States of America on Sunday (June 15).
Bayern Munich made an incredible start to their campaign with a 10-0 margin against FC Auckland City. This is the biggest margin of victory in the competition's history, with the previous record held by Al Hilal, who beat Al Jazira 6-1 in 2021 in the second round. It also set the record for the most goals scored in a FIFA Club World Cup match with the previous being eight goals when Esperance beat Al Sadd 6-2 in 2019 in a fifth-place playoff.
Musiala scored a hat-trick while Thomas Muller, Kingsley Coman, and Michael Olsie scored braces. Socha Boey also scored a goal, while quite remarkably, Harry Kane went goalless.
Jamal Musiala Creates History
Musiala was not named in Bayern's starting XI for the big clash but came on from the bench in the 61st minute. The German star took no time to make an impact by scoring in the 67th minute to put Bayern 7-0 up. He once again scored in the 73rd minute and 84th minute to complete a hat-trick in just 17 minutes and 23 minutes after coming.
Musiala became only the fifth player in history to score a hat-trick in the Club World Cup. He is the first player in history to achieve the remarkable feat as a substitute in the competition's history as well as the second player to score a hat-trick after the first half-century alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo scored two goals in added time, meaning Musiala is the first player with a fully second-half hat-trick in the competition.
Musiala's hat-trick is the second quickest after Gareth Bale (11 minutes) while playing for Real Madrid against Kashima Antlers in the 2018 semi-final in Abu Dhabi.

While Bayern have won the title twice in the past (2013, 2020), Musiala is the first player from the club to score a hat-trick on the global stage. He is also the first player to score a treble since the tournament expanded to a new 32-team format in 2025.
Across all senior men's FIFA competitions (FIFA World Cup, FIFA Confederations Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, and FIFA Intercontinental Cup), Musiala is only the second player to score a hat-trick after coming on from the bench, after Hungary's Laszlo Kiss, who scored a seven-minute hat-trick in the 1982 World Cup against El Salvador.
Hungary won the match 10-1 in what is the biggest victory margin in the FIFA World Cup history (69, 72, 76)and only one of three instances of 10 goals being scored in a FIFA competition, alongside Bayern today and Spain (vs Tahiti in the 2013 Confederations Cup).
