BCCI Takes MASSIVE Step In Wake Of Bengaluru Stampede Tragedy Following RCB's Maiden IPL Title Win

A huge tragedy rocked the cricketng world following Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) long-awaited maiden IPL title in 2025. The day after the win, RCB and the Karnataka Government announced a plan to celebrate with the fans on the streets of Bengaluru. However, this celebration turned into a massive tragedy as a stampede broke out outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. This killed 11 people and also injured a number of fans as well. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has now announced a massive step in the wake of this big incident.
In the BCCI's Apex Committee Meeting on June 14 (Saturday), the board formulated a committee of three members to constitute some guidelines in order to further prevent a tragedy like what transpired in Bengaluru.
"In light of the incident that occurred during the victory celebrations in Bengaluru, the Apex Council has decided to constitute a committee to formulate comprehensive guidelines aimed at preventing such occurrences in the future.," an official statement from the BCCI read.
This special committee will headed by BCCI secretary Devajeet Saikia. Vice-President Rajeev Shukla and Treasurer Prabhtej Singh Bhatia are the other two members of this committee. This committee will form a detailed set of guidelines within the next 15 days.

'BCCI Cannot Be A Silent Spectator'
In an earlier interaction with Cricbuzz, Devajeet Saikia had hinted that the BCCI will do something regarding the tragedy and not just be a silent specator. Even though the victory celebrations were RCB's private matter, Saikia said that the apex Indian cricketing body had to do something since cricket in India
"At some stage BCCI will have to do something. We cannot be a silent spectator. It was a private affair of RCB, but we at the BCCI are responsible for cricket in India, and we will try to ensure such incidents do not recur in future,” Saikia had said.
