South Africa On Top In WTC Final
South Africa need 282 to win the 2025 World Test Championship (WTC) final. Mitchell Starc's unbeaten 58 helped Australia post 207 in the fourth innings despite being 77-7 at one stage. Kagiso Rabada was once again the pick of the bowlers with a four-wicket haul. However, the Proteas did not get the start they wanted in the chase as they lost the wicket of Ryan Rickelton on the score of 9. Later, Markram and Mulder built a steady 61-run partnership to revive their innings before the latter was removed by Starc. Aiden Markram went on to slam a century and stitch a match-changing partnership with captain Temba Bavuma. Bavuma too scored a fifty.
Earlier in the match, Australia posted 212 in the first innings with half-centuries from Steve Smith and Beau Webster while Rabada took a five-wicket haul. Pat Cummins put up a captain's performance with a six-wicket haul as the Proteas were bowled out for just 138 in the first innings.
