India will play a warm-up game against India A from June 13 at the Kent County Cricket Ground in Beckenham. This is the final practice game for Indian players before the first Test against England from June 20. India A played two unofficial Tests against England Lions earlier this month to fine-tune their preparations for the series. Both matches were streamed live on JioHotsar; however, fans won't be able to watch the upcoming practice game because the BCCI has decided to play the match behind closed doors.
"June13-16: Closed Intra squad game. No vision access to Media/Broadcast. On the final day of the squad game, a player/member of support staff will be made available to the media," BCCI said in a statement.
The closed-door practice is not new to Team India. Ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the Indian team had a few practice sessions behind closed doors.
While the BCCI has not given any clarification about their decision to play the game behind closed doors, it is understood that since the match does not hold a first-class status, the management decided to ban the media from the match.
Meanwhile, several players in India A squad, including KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Nitish Reddy, Dhruv Jurel, Shardul Thakur, Akash Deep, and Abhimanyu Easwaran, are also part of the India squad for the Test series thus it is not clear which player will play for India or India A.
India A Squad: Abhimanyu Easwaran (captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Karun Nair, Dhruv Jurel (vice-captain/wicket-keeper), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shardul Thakur, Ishan Kishan (wicket-keeper), Manav Suthar, Tanush Kotian, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep, Harshit Rana, Anshul Kamboj, Khaleel Ahmed, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sarfaraz Khan, Tushar Deshpande, Harsh Dubey
