The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which is the 21st edition of the tournament, is the first of the new format, where the tournament has expanded to a 32-team event. Over the years, the competition has been played over the period of a week on an annual basis between a club from the host nation and the continental champions of every region.
However, the tournament will become a quadrennial event with 32 teams taking part over the month. The first edition will start on 14th June, with the final on 13th July and be hosted by the United States of America (USA) across 12 venues in 11 cities.
How Did 32 Teams Qualify?
The 32 teams were decided through slots for each continent. UEFA (Europe) have the most teams in the competition (12).

OFC (Oceania) - 1
Apart from Oceania, who have one slot, the winners of the continental championships of the last four years in each continent earned a spot. Meanwhile, UEFA and CONMEBOL were given additional slots on the basis of their coefficient rankings. No country is allowed to have more than two teams unless three different clubs won their continental tournament.

Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa): Second-best ranked eligible team in the CAF four-year ranking Concacaf (North, Central America, and Caribbean) - 4 Slots
Monterrey (Mexico): Winners of the 2021 CONCACAF Champions League
