Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) joy of winning the maiden IPL turned sour after the unfortunate death of 11 people in a stampede during RCB's victory celebration at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. RCB defeated Punjab Kings in the final to end the 18-year drought. All these years, RCB fans stood tall behind their team; thus, when the dream finally came true, the team decided to celebrate with the fans. However, they wouldn't have expected such a devastating outcome.

Has IPL Unfollowed RCB?

Ever since the incident took place, social media has been flooded with multiple rumours. One such claim that is going viral on social media is that the BCCI is mulling over banning RCB for a season. The supporters of the claim have justified it saying that the IPL has unfollowed RCB on Instagram. However, the claims are untrue as the IPL hasn't made any such move and still follows the IPL 2025 champions on the social media platform.

RCB Announces 10 Lakh Compensation To Families Of Deceased

Following the tragedy, RCB announced a 10 lakh compensation to the families of the deceased. The franchise also promised medical support to the injured. The Karnataka government also lent a helping hand and announced a 25 lakh compensation to families who lost their loved ones.

Will BCCI Ban RCB?

The IPL franchises are commercial entities, but they are governed by the BCCI contracts, which include clauses of public safety. The investigations about the Bangalore stampede are underway, and if the franchise is found guilty of breaching any clause, the BCCI might be forced to make strict moves, including banning the franchise. The BCCI have done it before when Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were banned for two seasons for spot fixing allegations, and the possibility of the ban can't be denied if RCB is found guilty.
However, claims that the BCCI have made up their mind to ban RCB, and IPL has unfollowed the franchise as the first step towards the suspension are untrue. The BCCI cannot randomly ban RCB, and a proper investigation should be conducted before taking any decision.
