India are all set to begin their campaign in the World Test Championship 2025-27 campaign when they travel to England to take on the Three Lions in a five-match Test Series beginning on June 20. India will be without Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, as both of the stalwarts have retired from the longest format of the game. Shubman Gill has been named as the new Test captain, as he would replace Rohit in the role. There were also rumours that Gill will replace Kohli at no.4 in the Indian batting order. The new Indian Test skipper has now given a cryptic reply to India's potential batting order.
In the press conference before India heads over to England, Shubman Gill stated that they have some time before the start of the Test Series. They still have an intra-squad match vs India A, and a 10-day camp in London, which will influence who plays in which position in the Indian batting order for the England series.
“We still have some time, we will be playing an intra-squad and have a 10-day camp in London. We will decide the batting order once we are there,” Gill said.

'Very Difficult To Fill Rohit, Virat's Space'

Shubman Gill said that there would not be any extra pressure on the team to fill the gaps left by Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's retirements. He said that it is very difficult to replace them, but the team has the experience to deal with their absence.
"I think there is pressure every time you play and match or start a tour. As such, there is pressure ahead of every series, but there would not be any extra pressure. Rohit and Virat are very experienced players, and it is very difficult to fill the space, but as a team, we have a lot of experience, and we have played a lot of matches.
