Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) planned to celebrate their maiden IPL trophy win in 2025 with a grand celebration in Bengaluru alongside fans. However, these celebrations turned fatal, as a stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium resulted in the death of 11 people along with countless injuries. Gautam Gambhir had openly criticized the use of such open-air parades that put the lives of people at risk, thus slamming the RCB management indirectly. Now, his ex-KKR teammate and former India batter Manoj Tiwari has too spoken out against the mismanagement.
In an interaction with IANS, Manoj Tiwari said that someone must take responsibility for the tragic event that occured outside the stadium, while the RCB team was celebrating inside.
"What happened yesterday was an extremely tragic incident. None of us could have imagined this. The fans who came to celebrate the victory would never have dreamt that they'd lose their lives. While celebrations were going on inside, people were dying outside. Someone must take responsibility," Tiwari said.

'No Planning And Foresight'

Manoj Tiwari also recalled that the Chief Minister, back in 2012, after KKR won their first IPL trophy, had asked the celebrations to be pushed back by two days. He opined that the management and leadership should have taken a similar decision before conducting the RCB victory celebration too.
Couldn't the celebration have been held after a day or two? That would have given enough time to prepare properly. You have to anticipate the scale of emotion and the number of people who would come. Our Chief Minister back then waited two days before hosting a celebration. That's the kind of experienced leadership that prevents tragedies. I did not see such planning or foresight here. Human life must always come before celebrations. This is not just a lapse; it is a failure of collective responsibility," Tiwari added.
