Sachin Tendulkar has reacted to the stampede in Bengaluru, which took place during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's victory celebrations. RCB defeated Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final to lift the trophy for the first time. The players landed in the city in the afternoon. They went to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in the evening.
Thousands of fans gathered in the city to celebrate RCB's win. 11 people died during the celebrations in the city. "What happened at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, is beyond tragic. My heart goes out to every affected family. Wishing peace and strength to all," Sachin posted on X.
Sachin is part of Mumbai Indians' coaching staff. He joined them as their icon in 2014 and has been working with them since then.
BCCI reacts to stampede
BCCI vice-president, Rajeev Shukla, reacted to the stampede and said that the board will do whatever it can to help the people. "Karnataka government will definitely do whatever possible to help the people and sometimes it happens you know inspire of police arrangement if there are so many thousands and thousands of people thronging upon, it becomes very difficult and people are so much in love with Virat Kohli and other members of the team that it has happened," he told Times Now.
"It's very unfortunate, all my sympathies to those people who have died and been injured in this thing. Whatever help is required, we will do."
How RCB won?
RCB successfully defended a total of 190 against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final. Virat Kohli shone with the bat and played a match-winning innings of 43 off 35 balls. He was RCB's highest run-scorer in the final.
Krunal Pandya bowled a Player of the Final spell and scalped 2 wickets for 17 runs in his four overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also dismissed 2 batters. Yash Dayal scalped 1 wicket for 18 runs in his 3 overs.
