India A will play their second unofficial Test against England Lions at Northampton from June 6. India A had many positives from the drawn first unofficial Test. Karun Nair, who returned to the India squad after eight years, scored a brilliant double hundred, while Dhruv Jurel, Sarfaraz Khan, and Nitish Reddy also showed good form with the bat. Sarfaraz is not part of the India squad, but runs from Nair, Jurel, and Reddy were pleasing for the Indian cricket team.
The second unofficial test will see a few changes in the India A XI. Shubman Gill was initially added to the squad for the second Test, but he was later withdrawn to give him a break before the Test series. Gill recently led the Gujarat Titans to the IPL playoffs. Sai Sudharsan will also reportedly miss the fixture, however, KL Rahul is all set to play the warm-up game to get into Test mode ahead of the Test series.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Abhimanyu Easwaran should open the innings for India A, followed by KL Rahul at No.3. Karun Nair should bat in the middle order at four, followed by Ishan Kishan and Nitish Reddy. Sarfaraz and Jurel might miss out on the place to accommodate KL Rahul and Kishan, respectively. Both Sarfaraz and Jurel scored fifties in the first game, but the team would like to give chances to every player in the squad.
Along with Reddy, Shardul Thakur should be the second fast-bowling all-rounder. Akash Deep should replace Harshit Rana while Khaleel Ahmed could come in place of Anshul Kamboj. Tushar Deshpande can replace Mukesh Kumar while Tanush Kotian can play ahead of Harsh Dubey.
India A Likely XI: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, KL Rahul, Karun Nair, Ishan Kishan, Nitish Reddy, Shardul Thakur, Akash Deep, Khaleel Ahmed, Tanush Kotian, Tushar Deshpande
