Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) 18-year wait for the IPL trophy ended after the team defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the final to win the IPL 2025. RCB had an outstanding tournament and won nine out of the 14 league matches. They defeated PBKS twice in Qualifier 1 and the final to lift the trophy. RCB is one of the most celebrated teams in the league, and being trophy-less was a blot on their profile, but it has been put to rest now.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli had an emotional outburst after RCB won the title. Kohli waited for the trophy for more than he should have, and when the moment arrived, he couldn't hold back his tears.

Credit should also be given to captain Rajat Patidar, who joined a rare list of captains to win the IPL in his first shot. After RCB dropped Faf du Plessis, Patidar was given the big responsibility to lead the side, and he came out with flying colours. Kohli was happy with what Patidar achieved as a leader and gifted him his bat.

Kohli was delighted with the win and called it one of the best moments of his career. Still, he ranked the IPL win five levels below Test cricket. He requested the youngsters to prioritise Test cricket and treat the format with respect.

"You know, this moment is right up there with the best moments I've had in my career. But it still marks five levels under Test cricket. That's how much I value Test cricket. And that's how much I love Test cricket," Kohli told the broadcaster.

"So I would just urge the youngsters coming through, to treat that format with respect. Because if you perform in Test cricket, you walk around anywhere in the world, people look you in the eye and shake your hand and say, well done, you played the game really well.

"So if you want to earn respect in World cricket all over, take up Test cricket, give your heart and soul to it," added Kohli.
