Virat Kohli Breaks Down In Tears As RCB End 18-Year-Wait For IPL Title, Video Goes Viral (Source: BCCI/IPL)
The 18-year wait for Royal Challengers Bengaluru ended at the Narendra Modi Stadium as they defeated Punjab Kings to win the maiden IPL trophy. RCB - one of the most celebrated teams in IPL - reached three finals before, but suffered a defeat in all games, but this year, they looked like a team on a mission.
Everything went right for RCB in IPL 2025. They had a great auction and compiled a strong squad, with a heavy batting and an equally potent bowling attack. The team meant business and decimated teams right from game one. They picked nine wins in 14 matches and ended the league stage at second position to qualify for Qualifier 1. They defeated PBKS in the Qualifier 1 before defeating them again in the final. RCB batted first and scored a fighting total of 190. They made PBKS work hard for every run and won the game by six runs.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli couldn't control his tears after RCB defeated PBKS to win the maiden IPL. Kohli's reaction went viral on social media.
Earlier, Kohli top-scored for RCB and scored 43 to help the team post a decent score on the board. Kohli ended the tournament as RCB's leading run scorer, with 657 runs in 15 matches. Meanwhile, Kohli also dropped a big hint that he is not retiring from the IPL anytime soon.
"As I said, I've given everything that I had for the last 18 years. I've stayed loyal to this team, no matter what. I've had moments where I thought otherwise, but I stuck to this team. I stood behind them, they stood behind me. And I always dreamt of winning it with them. And this is far more special than winning it with anyone else because my heart is with Bangalore, my soul is with Bangalore. And as I said, this is the team I'm going to play for till the last day that I play the IPL," said Kohli after at the post-match.
Along with Kohli, Josh Hazlewood also played a massive role in RCB's win in IPL 2025 and picked 22 wickets in 12 matches.
