Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally ended their title drought and defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2025 title to lift the elusive trophy for thr first time. RCB have been part of IPL since the tournament's inception. Playing their first season under new captain, Rajat Patidar, RCB registered a 6-run win in the final.

Social media was flooded with wishes for RCB, who have a huge fan following on every platform. Their former owner, Vijay Mallya, also sent his wishes to RCB on the title win.

"RCB are IPL Champions finally after 18 years. Superb campaign right through the 2025 tournament. A well balanced team Playing Bold with outstanding coaching and support staff. Many congratulations ! Ee sala cup namde !!" he wrote on X.

It was during Mallya's reign as the owner that RCB signed Virat in the pre-auction draft in 2008. Ahead of the IPL 2011 mega-auction, Virat was the only player to get retained by the franchise. He led the franchise from 2013 to 2021.

Virat played under Faf du Plessis from IPL 2022 to 2024. Rajat, who made his return to RCB during IPL 2022, did wonders for them on the captaincy front.

Virat Kohli got emotional after RCB's title win and said he never imagined that this day would come. "This win is as much for the fans as it is for the team. It's been 18 long years. I've given this time my youth, my prime. I gave it everything I have. I never thought this day would come. Was overcome with emotion as soon as the last ball was bowled," he said.

This was RCB's fourth IPL final. They lost their third IPL final under Virat's leadership in 2016. They had also lost the IPL 2009 and 2011 IPL finals.
