The 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) final will see Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) go head-to-head with both teams aiming to win their first-ever title and end an 18-year drought without the trophy.
History will be created either way at Ahmedabad's iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, as a first-time winner will be crowned. RCB, PBKS are two of the three founding members teams to play all 18 seasons of the league, but are yet to lift the trophy.
What If RCB-PBKS IPL 2025 Final Ends In A Tie?
RCB and PBKS have undoubtedly been the two best sides in the competition and have shown remarkable consistency. Infact, both franchise are the only two teams in the competition to not lose consecutive matches this season.
A close game is expected. So what happens if the match is tied?
If the final ends in a tie, a super over will be played where both teams will be involved in a one-over shootout. If that also ends with the scores level, then another super over will be played in which any batter dismissed in the first one will not be allowed to bat, while the bowler who bowled the first over will not be allowed to bowl. This process will continue until an outright winner is determined.
In case, conditions do not allow a Super Over after a tied match due to bad weather, only other unforeseen circumstances, it will be played on the reserve day. If a similar situation also happens on the reserve day, Punjab Kings (PBKS) will be crowned winners due to them being table toppers in the league stage.
The IPL playing conditions mention that the team finishing higher in the table will be declared the winners in such a scenario. For those unversed, PBKS topped the table while RCB finished second.
The two teams earlier met in the first qualifier on Thursday (May 29) in Mullanpur, which RCB won by eight wickets with 60 balls to spare.
