Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) are locking horns in their last league stage match of IPL 2025. CSK have already crashed out of the first round while GT are in the second round. Even though GT sit at the top spot, they aren't confirmed to finish in the top two yet.
A win here will see them finish at the top spot while a defeat could see them move out of the top 2. Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) fans will be keenly following this game and cheering for CSK. Here, we have a look at why RCB's fans are praying for CSK's win -
With 8 wins from 13 matches, RCB sit at the third spot in the points table. They have 17 points in their account. Table toppers GT have 18 points while Punjab Kings (PBKS) have 17 points. Fourth-placed Mumbai Indians (MI) have 16 points.
A defeat for GT here will see them finish the league stage with 18 points. Should RCB and PBKS win their last league stage match, they will have 19 points each. These two teams will finish in the top 2 while GT will move out of top 2.
If RCB lose their last game, then it will be tough for them to move into the top 2 as MI and PBKS will lock horns in their last league stage game. The winner of this game will have more points than RCB (if RCB lose their last match).
If GT, PBKS and RCB win their next last match, then they (RCB) will need to have a better NRR than Punjab to finish in the top 2. RCB's chances of finishing in the top 2 will bolster if CSK defeat GT.
RCB are scheduled to face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 27 while the MI-PBKS fixture will take place on May 26. RCB will exactly know what they need to do against LSG to make it to the top 2.
